 A Brief History:

The Dance Innovations Performance Foundation (a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization) was established in 1999 in order to give back to the community and to those less fortunate. Our mission is to create and maintain a forum for area communities and the public at large so that they may experience the myriad of values evident in the arts through entertainment to educational institutions and community organizations; to provide and enhance performance experiences for the pre-professional and professional performer through different venues; to provide assistance to and collaborate with other dance/entertainment development projects who share our mission; to provide collaborations with professional artists including but not limited to musicians, orchestras, vocalists, etc.; and, most importantly, to raise funds for charitable organizations through performances.  Since DIPF's inception, we have distributed $43,427.50 in scholarships and sponsorships.

In May, 2001, the Dance Innovations Performance Foundation received the distinct honor of being asked to appear at Child and Family Resources’ nationwide summit at the Morris Museum. Attended by dignitaries and political leaders, it was their dances that epitomized the message of the Summit - “Stop The Violence.” “M” Soul Productions and Changing Images Art Foundation, Inc. also selected Dance Innovations (among other child oriented organizations) to represent the beauty of our youth in their month long endeavors to promote International Children’s Day in the USA. Footage from numerous DIPF performances have been aired on the Television Channel 36 entitled “Human Mosiacs”.

So far, DIPF’s performers have touched the lives of many children and families through the following organizations:

•The Healing Heart Foundation, dedicated to funding research to help children and their families with pain management in the late stages of Cancer.
• NJ Chapter of the American Red Cross
• Children’s Specialized Hospital
• The Deirdre O’Brien Children’s Advocacy Center
• Northern NJ Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association
• The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
• The Sharing Network of NJ, an organization providing services for organ and tissue donations.
• Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund, for children and their families facing Cancer and other catastrophic diseases
• The Morris County Foster Parents Association
• Rainbows Inc.
• Mendham Cultural Arts
• The Children’s Institute of Verona, a non-profit school providing educational and therapeutic programs to enable emotionally disturbed, autistic, and preschool handicapped children to achieve their maximum potential in society.
• EPOCH (Educational Programs for Children Handicapped)
• Camp Comfort Zone, a non profit bereavement camp for children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary care-giver.
• The Imus Ranch For Kids With Cancer (March 2007)
• Mini scholarships for children suffering from long-term illnesses.

Dance Innovations Welcomes All Special Friends

Dance Innovations has long allowed special needs children to be a part of our classes.  in some cases, a "shadow" teacher is required for the children to be a part of mainstream classes, but we stress the benefits of dance in the development of a special needs student.  Currently, we have over 70 registered special needs students living with autism, down syndrome and many other disabilites.

The ways a special needs child can benefit from dance are the same as for any other child; fine motor skills, coordination, body and spatial awareness, strength, flexibility, ability to follow instruction and discipline.  The true benefactors are the teachers at Dance Innovations!  For more information on our programs, please call 973-635-1205 or the DIPF office at 973-635-7000.
